A Good Day for Steak
I recently watched a documentary called “in search of the perfect human diet”. If you have the chance please try and catch it somewhere or buy it online. It basically reiterates why the Paleo Diet is probably the one that is the most suited for our body, since we’ve been following it since the first man. Also, it brings up interesting details like why ever since the introduction of grains into our diet, have we stopped evolving? and how some diseases (like Celiac) only started at around that time as well.
The Paleo diet, as explained previous, and as will be explained again with a fresh perspective in a couple of weeks here on the blog, is basically one that allows only Protein, Nuts, Fruits and Vegetables to be eaten. Anything that has been processed or altered by man is a no no. So Bacon is a yes, Rice is a no. Beef Belly is a yes, Bread is a no.
I am more or less Paleo. I say more or less because i allow myself Dairy, Potatoes and Legumes, for the simple reason that i feel they don’t affect me negatively.
I picked up this Wagyu Rib Eye steak from Rustans the other day and stared at thinking how i wanted to cook it. Yes i could just sear it with olive oil and finish it with butter. Nothing would of made me happier. But i just wanted to try something different. A different technique even. Instead of letting it sear on one side then flipping it after a couple of minutes. I flipped the steak every 20 seconds. It actually helped give it a crispier crust. Watch the video and give it a try.
