6 Absolutely Delicious Toast Recipes
Sometimes, all you need is a good piece of toast to hit the spot. Toasts are a great way to get creative with pairing ingredients, so this is absolutely the time to experiment different flavors. I have a couple of go-to recipes for toasts whenever I need a quick snack, and they’re pretty easy to make.
*For all toast, good quality sourdough bread and 2 tbsp of butter, 2 pieces of smashed garlic, to toast and a teaspoon of olive oil. Grease a cast iron pan with butter and oil, and over medium heat saute the garlic. Toast the sourdough until golden brown. And now you’re ready to make toast!
Avocado Toast
Ingredients
- 1 avocado, mashed
- Juice of ½ lemon
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Mash avocado in a bowl and combine with lemon juice. Season to taste.
- Pile on avocado on top of toast and drizzle with olive oil.
Mushroom Toast
Ingredients
- 3 large brown mushrooms
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 4 tbsp of cream
- 1 tsp of lemon zest
- Extra virgin olive oil to finish
Instructions
- Chop mushrooms and garlic.
- Grease pan with butter, and saute garlic over medium heat. Place mushrooms in pan along with some vegetable stock and cook until it softens. Season to taste.
- Add cream and cook until sauce thickens.
- Place mushrooms over toast, and top with lemon zest and olive oil.
Bacon and Eggs
Ingredients
- 1 soft boiled egg
- 1 tbsp of fresh pesto
- 2 pcs whole garlic
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1 stalk parsley
- 1 stalk basil
- 1/3 cup pine nuts
- 3 tbsp white vinegar
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- a pinch of sugar
- 3 pieces of bacon
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Fry bacon over medium heat.
- In a pot, boil eggs until soft-boiled (around 6:15 minutes.)
- Spread pesto over toast, top with bacon and egg.
Green Peas
Ingredients
- 1/3 cup green peas
- 2 tbsp pine nuts
- 1 tbsp of pesto
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tbsp Greek yogurt
- Fresh arugula
- Drizzle of extra virgin olive oil
- Lemon juice to finish
Instructions
- Cook green peas and pine nuts over medium heat.
- Spread a layer of pesto on toast and top with the green peas and pine nuts.
- Top with Greek yoghurt and arugula. Season to taste and drizzle with olive oil and lemon juice.
White Cheese Toast
Ingredients
- 2 slices of kesong puti
- 1 tomato
- 1 bell pepper
- 1 small cayenne chili
- Juice of half a lemon
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Finely chop the tomato, bell pepper, and chili. Combine with lemon juice and season to taste.
- Grease a pan and cook kesong puti over medium heat. Flip once it turns light brown.
- Place kesong puti over toast and top with tomato mixture. Season with salt and pepper.
French Onion Toast
Ingredients
- 2 white onions
- Salt and pepper to taste
- ¼ cup of red wine
- 1/3 cup shaved gruyere cheese
Instructions
- Chop onions and and cook over medium heat until caramelized. Season with salt.
- Deglaze with red wine and cook until sauce thickens.
- Place over toast and top with grated gruyere cheese. Torch cheese until melted.
