Cardio is usually the first thing people think of when it comes to working out– hitting the treadmill or elliptical is kind of the fool-proof, top-of-head workout that many beginners do when starting their weight loss journey. Cardio is very important even if you’re on a weight or strength training program. It helps with recovery and building muscles, and it improves your stamina and endurance as well. After all, the best muscle to work out is the heart!

But spending hours casually on the treadmill can get boring, and it may not be doing much for you or your wallet. Not to mention the wear and tear that running on a treadmill for extended periods of time may be doing to your joints. Coach Arnold and I team up to bring you this cardio workout that you can do at home with little to no equipment: all you need is you, a good pair of running shoes, and a safe road (preferrably uphill).

Try out this workout at home:

10 x 70 meter All Out Sprint with 20 lb medicine ball (if you don’t have a medicine ball, do this 20 times), walk back to starting line.
