Cauliflower Rice and Seared Tuna (Anyone Can Cook with Laureen Uy)

Filipinos love their rice. I teach Laureen Uy how to incorporate veggies into one’s diet while still getting the texture of the nation’s favorite grain.

Filipinos can’t live without their rice. This versatile white grain that goes with everything is a dietary staple for millions of Filipinos, but sometimes we need to swap this carb with a healthier alternative. My good friend and fellow rice-lover Laureen Uy doesn’t find herself in the kitchen very often, but I teach her how to cook up a healthy grain-free meal that won’t make you miss the texture of rice! For the main, we sear up a piece of tuna flavored with soy sauce and chili. This dish is so easy to make and perfect for those who want to cut down on rice without sacrificing the texture.



2 cup cauliflower
1/3 cup thai basil
1/3 cup coriander
1/3 cup mint
4 tsp fish sauce
juice of 1 lime
2 tsp coconut sugar
1 red chili

Instruction: Put everything in a food processor

Soy tuna


200 grams of tuna, marinated in 5 tbsp of soy sauce and 1 tbsp of chili garlic sambal.

Instruction: Sear on both sides for 3 mins on medium high heat with some olive oil.
