It all started as a new year’s resolution. I promised to myself that I’ll be committed to my resolution this time and I’ll do whatever it takes to reach my goal. My fitness journey didn’t start easy since I grew up celebrating almost all the occasions that you can possibly think of which made me part of the chubby group in my entire life.

My family and friends would always eat out whenever we were happy, sad, stressed or whenever we just felt like eating. And to make it worse, I didn’t have any sort of physical activity. As a result, I grew older getting chubbier each year. This made me feel uncomfortable and envious of other girls.

Euginie Before and After

In 2013, I was under a lot of stress because of my upcoming board exam. I barely had any physical activity and dedicated all my time for review. Food was my source of energy so I could review until midnight. After few months of binge eating, I had to face the consequence of weight gain and reached the peak of my weight which was 158 lbs.

It took me almost 2 years after my exam to realize that I just had to put a stop to my unhealthy lifestyle. In January 1, 2015, I made a promise to myself to turn my life around by losing weight and become fit and healthy.

I started by simply giving up white rice and replaced it with other healthier food options. I also engaged myself to different physical activities such swimming, zumba, and hot yoga.

Progress and committment didn’t come easy. I had to keep track of my transformation through my Instagram account (ginie_worksoutforcoffee). In this way, I can slowly live up to my word and push myself further as I went on with my journey. Whenever I was low in motivation, I would search up for weight loss transformations in The Fat Kid Inside that would help me to push my limits.

Fitness wasn’t only a journey for me. It was a life changing experience. It taught me how to work hard for the things that I want which helped me to see life in a different light. As of today, I am a healthy, 114 pounds girl. (Yep, I lost a total of 44 pounds!) I am happy to say that I did not just achieve my new year’s resolution but I also became comfortable with myself!

Weight Loss Tips:

1. Set reasonable goals every month. It might be a long journey but it’s going to be worth it. Focus on your reward!

2. Avoid sugary foodat all costs. If you are craving for something sweet, you can try peanut butter or dark chocolate but indulge them responsibly. Balance is the key here!

3. Cleansing is good for you. Drink warm water with lemon every morning as soon as you wake up.

4. Exercise regularly but not too much! I try to exercise at least 3-4x a week. Try various exercises to challenge yourself and to avoid weight plateau when you are trying to lose weight. Don’t forget to let your muscles rest!

5. Opt for an exercise routine that you will enjoy. This is to avoid boredom and laziness.

6. Keep track of your progress by taking pictures. They will come in handy in the future to see what you need to work on.

7. Discipline and perseverance are your friends.

8. Ignore those people who don’t believe that you can do it. Stay positive!

9. Reward yourself once in a while. My kryptonite was coffee and it was a good source of motivation for me.

10. Push your limits and believe in yourself. It will only become a failure once you stop trying.
