Overnight is a travel and food show for today’s traveler and we’ve been working on this web series for 4 months now. In today’s time hungry world, people want to try and experience so much in so little time. In fact, we discovered that most people travelling around Asia would spend on average 36 to 72 hours in any given capital city. So we decided to the same thing. Overnight will go through 5 large Asian cities (Taipei, Saigon, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok and Seoul) and will attempt to show you what you can do during those precious few hours you have in the metropolis. From drinking, eating, discovering new cultures all the way up to clubbing. Overnight’s got you covered.
400 years ago, Bangkok was just a small village, mostly used as a port, for ships sailing up river. After the kingdom was under pressure by the Burmese armies in the late 1700s, the capital was moved across the river to Bangkok. A country and city that speaks no ill about a dynasty, who still reigns but who no longer rules. it is a city deeply rooted in tradition that is plowing full steam ahead to being of the most modern ones in South East Asia.
Remnants of the past are still well preserved and revered alongside the canals which dubbed it the Venice of the East and the growing infrastructure that created the sprawling metropolis we know today. 50 districts full of character and life.
We came to Bangkok for a little less than 36 hours and quickly realized that it wasn’t enough. 2 to 3 whole days would have been great.
