Overnight is a travel and food show for today’s traveler and we’ve been working on this web series for 4 months now. In today’s time hungry world, people want to try and experience so much in so little time. In fact, we discovered that most people travelling around Asia would spend on average 36 to 72 hours in any given capital city. So we decided to the same thing. Overnight will go through 5 large Asian cities (Taipei, Saigon, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok and Seoul) and will attempt to show you what you can do during those precious few hours you have in the metropolis. From drinking, eating, discovering new cultures all the way up to clubbing. Overnight’s got you covered.

Malaysia Truly Asia..

You’ve all seen the ads on endless repeat, on possibly every cable network, but asides from the typical montage shown to you, you had no idea what Malaysia was about. Well, I didn’t. It’s not really a destination that pops up on people’s bucket lists, usually trailing well behind other South East Asia countries.

The first time I went to Kuala Lumpur, I didn’t expect anything, I was flying overnight, as one does, for work, a quick conference in a hotel, a night out, a meal and that was it. Going to the airport to catch my red eye, it hit me, damn this infrastructure is impressive. I was surrounded by tall buildings and amazing highways, who knew Malaysia was doing so well economically.

That’s when it hit me, I should of stayed longer. KL is like Singapore but on steroids, bigger, brasher, definitely more Asian and without all the foreign bankers or recruitment officers. If you’re looking for the most ethnically diverse city in Asia, this is it.

A lot of people say that KL isn’t very exciting, while yes I wouldn’t recommend staying more than 2 or 3 days, it is a fun, vibrant metropolis, with great clubs, restaurants, shopping, bars and people. So stay over the weekend and jump off to some other areas within Malaysia. I really want to go to Penang next!
