Pastillas de Leche S’mores

For those that don’t know, Pastillas de Leche is a Filipino snack made with milk and sugar. The best ones are usually made with carabao’s milk. Aside from dried mangoes, this is a delicacy that I always bring as pasalubong to family and friends abroad.

This recipe is inspired by a dessert I recently ate at Grace Park, which is owned by Asia’s Best Female Chef for 2016 Margarita Forés. If you haven’t tried it yet, their Pastillas de Leche topped with melted chocolate is definitely a must-try!

While it can be eaten alone, I’ve decided to make it more special and turn it into a local version of S’mores but with pastillas.

What’s different with this version is that torching the pastillas gives it sort of a crème brulée flavor because of the camamelizing of the sugar layer.

And topped with Ube ice cream, this is a truly Filipino dessert that’s way better than S’mores!
