Who doesn’t love strawberry shortcake? The most famous variation of the shortcake, according to Driscoll’s berry growers, first appeared in an English cookbook as early as 1588. However, by 1850, it has become a well-known biscuit and fruit dessert served hot with butter and sweetened cream. It wasn’t until 1910 that French pastry chefs replaced the topping with heavy whipped cream.
While this sweet and tangy dessert is really tasty, its high on carbs and sugar as well. Here’s my version Quaker Oats that’s a high in fiber and perfect for when you need a high-carb snack, preferably after a workout.
