Video Throwback: 5 Salad Dressings in 5 Minutes

These salad dressings will liven up your salad. Because there’s nothing better than a well-seasoned and well-balanced salad in my book.

There’s nothing better than a well-seasoned and well-balanced salad in my book.

The general misconception is that a salad is some wilted lettuce with a side of vinegar and olive oil and minimal seasoning. How dreadfully boring. If this is the only type you know, go out and live a little.

The creative spectrum of the “Salad Course” is incredibly expansive and you could probably go months with just eating different types of them. The rub lies in knowing how to create and prepare filling variations with whatever fresh ingredients you can find.

Salad, a lot like life, is all about balance and diversity.

(Shit just got deep)

To make it simple, here’s my no-fail formula for an epic salad that’s good enough as a meal in itself:

Base +

Crunchies +

Protein +

Dressing +

Extras

Lettuce

Kale

Spinach

Arugula

Carrots

Cucumbers

Apples

Bell Peppers

Sprouts

Tuna

Eggs

Quinoa

Tofu

Chicken

Vinaigrette

Dairy-based

Fruity

Herbs

Dried Fruit

Nuts

Cheese

Avocados

Making sure you have all these components, you can easily play around with the ingredients that you have. A beautiful salad is a well composed selection of a maximum of 4-9 ingredients, made sure to fit properly together in terms of taste (don’t put fish salt with something that’s already salty, don’t use honey if you already lots of sweet fruits)

And for added zing to your salads, try these salad dressing recipes on for size:
